How can I influence others through dance?

Can movement leave anything behind outside the body, beyond the stage?

How many people can dance touch?

Not through shock,

but through a pause

a moment when breath slows,

when one feels allowed to exist.

My work begins with movement.

As a dance artist and educator, I work with gestures that are not grand,
but attentive, accumulated, and lived.

These movements emerge from daily practice—
from classrooms shaped by observation, correction, and care,
and from dancers who listen, adapt, and continually reshape themselves.

I am interested in how training quietly forms the body:
how we learn to sense, to persist, and to choose,
and how, over time, we come to understand ourselves through movement.

My current research explores identity and belonging in dance education,
focusing on the embodied experiences of Chinese American students.

Through dialogue and practice, I examine how cultural identity is not only expressed,
but also negotiated, remembered, and reimagined through the body.

Rather than viewing dance training as a fixed system,
I approach it as a living process—
one that carries personal histories, cultural values, and evolving ways of being.

Through choreography, teaching, and research,
I create spaces where dancers can pause, reflect, and exist more fully within themselves.

Through dialogue and practice, I ask:

What if training is not only about performance,
but about how we learn to live?
